Despite their recent rise in popularity, essential oils aren’t new. The use of plant-based oils for healing and spiritual practice dates back thousands of years. While we are thankful to have modern medicine in today’s time, more and more people are looking to natural options to maintain their wellness.
Essential oils are aromatic compounds found in plants that help the body balance itself physically and emotionally. The most common way to use essential oils is aromatically, which means to breathe it in. Smelling the oils out of the bottle or using them in a diffuser are great ways to cleanse the air, support respiratory health and change your mood. Here’s one of my favorite diffuser blends for focus and a pop of energy.
2 drops Lemon
2 drops Peppermint
1 drop Frankincense
1 drop Rosemary
You can dilute a drop or two of essential oil in an unscented lotion or carrier oil and massage it into the skin (avoid the eyes, ears and nose!) when you need relief to a specific area. doTERRA’s Deep Blue essential oil blend is one of my favorites for muscle and joint relief.
Due to the purity and testing of doTERRA essential oils, you can also use them internally in water or a veggie cap if there is a Supplement Fact on the label. Personally, I love to start the day with 2 drops of Copaiba for mood and overall body balance.
